The West Wight Club currently has around fifty members. The club is keen to welcome new members to get involved in the sport.
Membership is governed by the same requirements that apply to all Home Office–approved shooting clubs. Beginners join as probationary members, serving a six‑month provisional period before they can apply for full membership. During this time, probationary members must complete a minimum number of supervised visits to demonstrate safe conduct, regular attendance, and commitment to the sport.
All visitors and prospective members must sign a declaration confirming that they are not prohibited by law from taking part in shooting activities or holding a firearms certificate. In addition, every applicant must undergo a police background check before their first visit to the range. This requirement applies to everyone — without exception and regardless of age.
